Matthew Reason has been part of MCP’s training team since 2014, delivering expert-led technical courses with a specialism in Control and Instrumentation (C&I). With a hands-on background as a service engineer and C&I trainer, Matt brings a wealth of practical experience and a flexible, learner-focused approach. He began his career overseas, completing his C&I apprenticeship in a sugar mill in what is now Zimbabwe, before moving to the UK and establishing himself in the training sector.

Known for his ability to adapt training to suit specific client requirements, including legacy systems dating back to the 1960s, Matthew is particularly passionate about working with apprentices. His interactive teaching style, depth of technical knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject make him a highly valued member of the MCP team.

CORE AREAS OF EXPERTISE

  • Over two decades of experience in delivering specialist C&I training. Adept at tailoring content to fit legacy systems or cutting-edge technology, helping technicians develop a deeper understanding of industrial controls and processes.

  • Regularly delivers 18th Edition and related electrical training. Skilled at explaining complex regulations in a clear, relatable way, supporting delegates in both competence and confidence.

  • Committed to helping apprentices and junior technicians develop essential skills. Known for his engaging approach and ability to make training relevant, enjoyable and effective.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

Matt enjoys hands-on technical projects such as building training rigs, often describing it as a task he can happily lose himself in. Now settled with a young family, he’s proud to be part of MCP’s growing division and looks forward to taking on a greater role in the development and management of the team.
