The Customer

One of the UK’s most recognisable online retailers, this organisation has pioneered the use of advanced automation and robotics in the grocery sector. With highly automated customer fulfilment centres across the country, it relies on sophisticated systems that combine mechanical, electrical, electronic and pneumatic technologies.

The Challenge

The business faced a shortage of skilled engineers to maintain its advanced warehousing systems. Recruiting externally was difficult, so the retailer needed to “grow its own” maintenance team. That required structured programmes covering everything from NVQ Level 3 qualifications to advanced PLC, pneumatics and electrical fault-finding training.

Training also needed to be delivered flexibly, often in line with shift patterns, to minimise disruption to operations.
