JIM LESSER, Senior Technical Trainer

Jim delivers a range of training courses for MCP Consulting Group, comprising of; Technical Operator Training, Mechanical Maintenance Skills Training, Pneumatics Training and carrying out assessments. Jim previously worked as an associate for MCP then left to teach on the John Deere apprentice training program and then for Nottingham College Ruddington site on the Kia apprenticeship training program. Whilst there the director of training asked Jim to return to MCP to teach full time.

Jim has a proven track record with coaching and mentoring during his 24-year military career as a mechanic in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. On leaving the Army Jim spent 7 years as a technical author writing publications for military and civilian companies, Jim was promoted to project manager. Jim then became a self-employed trainer delivering onsite training in manual handling, working at height, vehicle banksman, face fit testing, abrasive wheels training. During this time Jim had an interview with MCP and became an associate self-employed mechanical trainer. Jim has been back with MCP since Sep 22.

CORE AREAS OF EXPERTISE

  • Jim gained a PTLLS qualification in 2012 to deliver training in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan for a European client and a Certificate in Education and Training whilst teaching at John Deere.

  • Jim has gained a wealth of engineering knowledge during his career and whilst delivering training for many blue-chip companies across the UK and Europe. Jim writes, updates and delivers mechanical training presentations. Jim has written bespoke training programs for MCP customers and delivered them.

  • Jim has been a member of several professional institutions; currently he is a Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry and has gained Advanced Automotive Engineer and Certified Automotive Trainer status. Jim is also an associate member of the Society for Education and Training.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

Jim enjoys technology and has recently bought a 3D printer to build training aids to assist theory training. Jim interests include watching MotoGP, World Superbikes and socialising with friends at the local wine emporium, he also time spends with his family and loves to travel.
